~Ben Asakilyings 3.Feb.03 08:55 PM a Web browser Domino Server6.0Windows 2000
Hi admins,
we just migrated from Exchange to R6 - and now a lot of SMTP problems....
Our domino server is behind a firewall, with only an internal IP adress (192.xxx...).
With Outlook/Exchange our mailing situation was like:
Every client sent internet mail via our ISP (auth smtp with username/password).
Internal mail was directly sent to the Exchange mail file of the company (= Exchange domain) member.
But how can I do this in Domino?
If I choose in the clients location preferences... /mail tab "Send outgoing mail: through Domino Server", all emails inside our domino domain are delivered immediatly.... BUT... internet mail leads to some SMTP errors like:
========================================
03.02.2003 17:58:17 Router: No messages transferred to WEB.DE (host mailgate7.cinetic.DE) via SMTP: SMTP Protocol Returned a Permanent Error
03.02.2003 17:58:17 Router: Failed to connect to SMTP host WEB.DE because 221 2.0.0 mailgate7.cinetic.de closing connection
========================================
other emails are delivered with no problem:
========================================
03.02.2003 18:02:14 Router: Transferred 1 messages to GMX.DE (host mx0.GMX.DE) via SMTP
========================================
First thought: foreign mail server down... no, it stays the the same for hours - and emails via internet mail to these domains were received correctly. So - as far as I understand - the reason might be that our domino server has no "well-known" IP? (or am I only missing same server configuration??)
So... scenario 2: If I choose "Send outgoing mail: directly to Internet" in the clients location prefs, the emails to foreign domains were sent via our ISP - with no error... BUT: also the internal emails to the members of our domino domain are sent via our ISP (and arrived 20 minutes later...).
What am I doing wrong? What name must I change, so that our internal mail is delivered immediatly (like in Exchange)?
